About The Wu, Wan-Hsiang Puppet Theater

Wu, Wan-Hsiang Puppet Theater Troupe (originally Hung Pin Puppet Theater Troupe) is the family enterprise undertaken by the executive chief, Wu, Fu-Hsun (Wan-Hsiang).
In 1950s, he entered into partnership with his brother to make the outer platform temple fair travelling show of Yunlin Chung Sheng Yueh Chun Ke.
The brothers formally applied for the legal registration (Hung Pin Puppet Theater Troup) respectively in 1982, and formed the group to perform.
The apparatus and changing scenes of Yeh Tai Hsi (the outdoor drama) such as "moving cloud scenes, the lotus incarnation, five major changing scenes, riding the single wheel bike in the air, and the warship shooting cannons" were newly established.

The professional Pu Tai Hsi troupe

At that time it caused a great sensation, and the troupe might be said to be the champion group in the central and southern Taiwan and coastal areas.
The professional Pu Tai Hsi troupe (puppet theatrical company) that is consistent from beginning to end all the way going from 1950s frequently appears in each corner of Taiwan actively, and gains the rather favorable comment wherever it goes.
It joined in the last drama competition in Taiwan in 1997, stood out from the primary contest of troupes in Yunlin County, and got "the excellent prize."
It represented Yunlin County solely to participate in the country-wide drama finals, had the honor to win "the best stage technology award," and strove for the glory for Yunlin County, the hometown of Pu Tai Hsi (puppet show).

In 2000 it got the chance of Yunlin County’s fostering the marvelous local performing art team.
When the country was greeting the coming of millenium, the Public TV invited the troupe to be on behalf of local Chin Kuang Pu Tai Hsi in Taiwan to play on TV, and the program was relayed synchronously in the whole world.
The trouped not only has the strict demand on the performance quality, but also is particular about the puppet art manipulated.
Moreover, it can combine the features of the traditional and Chin Kuang Pu Tai Hsi to nimbly display the beauty of puppet art.
